Packing That Fits the Material

Jumbo Bags, Small Bags, Containers & Bulk Cargo

The packing method affects handling, product protection and unloading. Bagged minerals, loose lumps, fine powders and fertilizer granules need different preparation. The following options explain what to specify when requesting supply.

01 / Jumbo-Bag Packing

Jumbo Bags / FIBC Packing

Jumbo bags, also called FIBC or big bags, provide unitized handling for mineral and fertilizer cargo. They are useful where the buyer unloads with suitable lifting equipment and feeds the material into storage or production.

  • Bag load: specify the required net weight and suitable safe working load for the product.
  • Bag design: agree dimensions, lifting loops, top filling design and bottom discharge or closed base.
  • Product protection: specify any inner liner, dust containment, marking and storage requirements.
  • Shipment planning: confirm bag count, gross weight and container layout for the actual cargo.
02 / Small-Bag Packing

25 kg & 50 kg Bag Requests

Small bags support distribution, measured production feeding and manual handling. The weight, woven or other bag construction, inner liner, closure and printed markings are selected for the product and order.

50 kg20 bags

Bag sizes are requested against the selected material; the quotation confirms availability, weight and packing details.

03 / Container Shipping

Container Loading & Sealing

Container shipments can carry small bags, jumbo bags or suitable loose material. The loading plan should match the product density, packing dimensions, container payload, weight distribution and the buyer’s unloading method.

  • Agree loose loading, bag arrangement or pallet use where required.
  • Check visible container condition and the loading arrangement.
  • Record the container and seal details and any agreed loading photographs.

Confirm the actual net payload for the selected product, bag layout, container and transport route.

04 / Bulk Vessel Shipping

Bulk Vessel Shipping & Port Handling

Bulk vessel shipments are reviewed for compatible products and order volumes, with loading-port handling and destination discharge considered together. This route requires a plan for moving cargo from stock to trucks and the vessel.

How many 25 kg or 50 kg bags make one metric ton?

One metric ton equals 1,000 kg. At the nominal net bag weight, this is 40 bags of 25 kg or 20 bags of 50 kg, excluding the weight of empty bags and pallets.

How much cargo fits in a shipping container?

Loading quantity depends on the material density, packing dimensions, container payload and dimensions, weight distribution and route restrictions. The product-specific load plan must be confirmed for the shipment.

Can I request a liner, markings or pallets?

Include the required liner, bag markings, pallet arrangement and any receiving requirements in the enquiry. Availability and the exact specification are confirmed in the quotation.

What affects packing and shipping costs?

Material form, quantity, bag construction, liners, pallets, handling, ports, shipment route, timing and agreed inspection requirements can affect the quoted costs.

What information is needed for a logistics quotation?
